Dear Devotees, Friends, and Well-Wishers,

It is with immense joy and gratitude that we share an important milestone in the journey of our temple. Through our collective merits, dedication, and shared vision, our temple has taken a significant step towards acquiring an adjacent plot of land for the construction of a new residence for our venerable monks, having signed the purchase agreement and secured the property with the required initial deposit.

This initiative reflects our deep respect and gratitude for the monks who have devoted their lives to preserving the Buddha’s teachings and providing spiritual guidance, Dhamma and meditation programs, and compassionate support to our community.

Honouring Our Monks and Strengthening Our Community

Over the years, our existing accommodation has become increasingly cramped, with limited peacefulness and privacy for our resident monks. We also welcome a significant number of visiting monks throughout the year, yet our current facilities do not provide sufficient accommodation to host them in a dignified manner.

This new project will address these challenges by providing a peaceful, dedicated living environment for our resident monks while expanding accommodation capacity for visiting monks.

Moreover, as our devotee community continues to grow, the improved facilities will enable us to offer Dhamma teachings, meditation programs, retreats, and other Buddhist activities to more people than the current facility accommodates.

Building Our Long-Term Vision

With your generosity and support, we have carried out a few construction and expansion projects over the years, including building the main shrine room complex, Pagoda, Samadhi statue and the adjoining landscaping features.

This is going to be the final major construction project that forms part of our broader vision to develop the West End Buddhist Temple and Meditation Centre into a vibrant hub of Buddhist learning, spiritual practice, meditation, and cultural activities serving communities across North America.

Our Journey Begins: An Invitation to Join Hands

With the purchase agreement now signed and the initial deposit made, we are embarking on the next important stage of this journey: raising the remaining funds required to complete the land acquisition and, subsequently, building the monks’ residence.

We humbly invite devotees, families, friends, and well-wishers to join hands with the temple. Whether through financial contributions, volunteer service, professional expertise, or other forms of support, every contribution will be deeply valued.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation for your continued devotion, generosity, and unwavering support.

May the merits of this noble endeavour bring blessings, peace, and well-being to all.

With Metta and Gratitude,

Ven. Kulugammana Dhammawasa (Chief Abbot on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Dayaka Sabha) Halton Peel Buddhist Cultural Society (HPBCS) West End Buddhist Temple and Meditation Centre
